Heavy material

Dumpsters for concrete, dirt and other heavy material

Concrete, brick, block, asphalt and dirt can all go in a Bear Services bin. Because they're so heavy, the trick is loading part way. Here's how it works.

Heavy material we take

  • Concrete, including slab, sidewalk and driveway tear outs
  • Brick and block
  • Asphalt
  • Dirt

Hazardous material can't go in with it. See what can go in a dumpster for the full list.

Why heavy loads go part way

Every bin has a weight limit: 12,000 lb on the 15 yard and 24,000 lb on the 30 yard. Concrete, brick, asphalt and dirt reach that limit with the bin only a few feet full, and the driver can't haul an overweight bin. Load it level, keep it part way, and tell dispatch what's going in when you order.

Which size for concrete and dirt

Pick by weight, not space. The 30 yard holds twice the weight of the 15, so it's the better pick for a big slab or driveway tear out, as long as each load stays level and part way. For a small patio or a few feet of dirt, the 15 yard is often plenty. Full dimensions are on the bin sizes page.

15 yard

12 ft × 7½ ft × 5½ ft, 12,000 lb limit. Small patios, steps and a few feet of dirt.

30 yard

22 ft × 7½ ft × 6 ft, 24,000 lb limit. Bigger slab and driveway tear outs, loaded part way.

How heavy loads are billed

Delivery and removal includes the first ton. After that you pay the scale weight of the load, so a bin of concrete costs more than a bin of framing scrap. Every load goes to the Five Mile Pass C&D landfill owned by our parent company Dunn Companies, which is how we can weigh it and bill the real number. Each bin gets 14 days on site before a daily fee starts.

Contractors pouring and tearing out often

Concrete and excavation crews can open a contractor account so every order is a call or a text. Our office calls once to set up billing.

Heavy material questions

What people ask about concrete and dirt

Anything not covered here, call or text (801) 785-4494 and you'll get a straight answer from someone who works here.

Can you put concrete in a dumpster?

Yes, but only part way. Concrete, brick, block and dirt reach the 12,000 lb limit on a 15 yard bin or the 24,000 lb limit on a 30 yard with the bin only a few feet full. Tell dispatch what's going in when you order.

How full can I fill a dumpster with dirt?

Only a few feet deep. Dirt is heavy enough to reach the weight limit long before the bin looks full. Load it level and tell dispatch it's dirt when you order.

How is a heavy load billed?

Delivery and removal includes the first ton. Everything past that is billed on the scale weight, so a heavy load costs more than a light one. Dispatch can give you the numbers for your address.

Where do you deliver concrete bins?
